A hands-on educational initiative
Kids building doghouses.
And a whole lot more.
AdobeDoghouse.org is being created to give kids a fun, practical way to learn how buildings are made — by building something a dog can call home.
Projects can use materials found close to home and natural-building methods such as adobe, LavaCrete, pumicecrete, hempcrete, compressed earth blocks, and other low-impact building systems.
Why a doghouse?
It is small enough for kids to understand, real enough to teach useful skills, and meaningful enough to create something that can actually be used. Along the way, kids can learn measuring, mixing, teamwork, problem-solving, material science and respect for local resources.
